Bird house for cardinals?

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 5 Comments

I’m wanting to build a birdhouse specifically for cardinals. Anyone know what kind of house is best for them? Where can I find plans for one? I’ve found a lot of plans online for other birds, but not much for cardinals. Do they not prefer built houses?

My cat killed the blue bird that just laid eggs?

A bluebird has a nest inside a bird house I have outside and she had 4 eggs in it…my cat killed it and brought it to the front door 3 days ago…I keep peeking in there at the eggs, and noticed that 2 are missing…where did they go, the only thing that can fit inside that little hole is a bird, and how could another bird carry off the eggs…they can’t carry an egg in their beak, can they…is there anything I can go about the 2 eggs that are still there?

Robin Nesting Shelf Robin Bird House

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 8 Comments

An American Robin is beginning to build a nest on a Wild-Bird-Watching.com Nesting Shelf. This Nesting Shelf is designed to be used by Robins, Doves, Phoebes, and other birds that don’t use traditional bird houses. This particular nesting shelf had a split roof so it couldn’t be shipped. We decided to place it on the south side of the house since we didn’t have one on that side. Now 4-11-09 a new Robin nest is being built on the shelf. Hope we don’t scare her away as this is right by the back door. www.wild-bird-watching.com
