bird flew into window and got knocked out?

May 31, 2010 Bird House Feeder

A little bird got trapped in our house. In an excited attempt to escape he flew into a window. Rendering himself unconscious. Any idea what to do with the tiny Knocked out fella?
We don’t have a vet in our town. And I hate to sound…Harsh. But im not going to drive 45 minutes for a bird.

That kind of happened to me, the bird flew into the backyard door though (it is glass so I think it didn’t realize that it was a door and stuff) but anyways, I think it died……..but I think you should make a little hospitol type looking area and get tiny amounts of food because I don’t think he’s gonna be there long. OR go to the vet. :/

Either Bring it to the vet or, if its hurt, animal shelter.

  11. On top of the tallest mountain says:

put it in a box, then take is outside, then leave the box open, then let it fly out when it regains consionsness AND DONT USE YOUR BARE HANDS!

  12. Kevin B says:

Just keep him until he regains consciousness
    make sure he is comfortable
when he wakes up, open the door and set him free.

  13. Lisa C says:

put it somewhere outside and wait till it comes round maybe put it somewhere where a at or something can’t get at it and then keep an eye on it. maybe give it some water or bread when it comes round

lol, something like always happens to me. We have a big window in our living room and the birds can’t see it so they try to fly through it, thinking its a hole and BOOM smack right into it. We usually just leave the ones that are knocked out there, they always come to and leave.

  15. cory says:

use a towel 2 pick him up & take him outside. keep an i on him so he is ok while he’s unconscious. when he wakes up he can fly away.

  16. ak1 says:

take him to the vets straightaway – put him in a cardboard box and take him there .

  17. Celeste C says:

Put him in a place where he won’t get hurt or eaten, and wait for him to wake up naturally. A little cage would be ideal. Then carry him outside and let him free. Or, if he seems hurt, care for him until he’s better… you’ll have to consult some websites for that.

  18. wh:Oa says:

carefully put him in a safe, soft box with bird seed until he wakes up. do not feed him milk – a lot of people mistakenly do that, but it’s bad for them. don’t be too noisy around him- it would scare him

after a while. if he’s walking or flying, open a window or door close by that would easily see

    awww that poor baby. :(
ok some of these answers are pure idiotic. pour water on it? intercourse???? wtf!!!
i’m sorry you don’t want to drive it to a vet (i would), but keep it in a cool air conditioned place if it’s unconcious so it won’t dehydrate. if it’s beginning become concious, use gloves and gently put it in a shaded area (like a bush or something). and PUT A BOWL OF WATER BY IT!! :)
good luck i hope that little darling recovers <333
