Our houses come in many styles. They are all made from one inch thick reclaimed Select grade Southern Pine. This extra thickness provies the birds with extra insulation from temperature variations and properly mounted gives full physical safety. Each side has a 3/4 inch hole predrilled near the top for ventilation. Additonal ventilation is gained by leaving a space above the top of the front section and by leaving approximately 1/16th along each side of the front section. These heavy duty parts and design have been carefully made to offer you many years of enjoyment. We recommned that bluebird houses be left in their natural state(no finishes, paints, or stains) as this makes the house unattractive and possible dangerous for the Bluebird. If you are using the bird house to attract or house another variety of bird then painting and staining depends on their needs. These bird houses maybe painted or stained as you desire. About Bluebirds For the past few generations, the bluebird population has steadily declined due primarily to he the loss of habitat caused by deforestation and urban sprawn. Another major factor has been competition for the remaining nesting sites by starlings, sparrows and other species of bird. These birdhouse are designed specifically for bluebirds in the hope of increasing their population.
