Help finding the species of this bird?

June 24, 2010 Bird House Feeder

So our kitten has caught once again another birdy, but this time, i managed to get it away in time. This little bird is a little… actually quite shaken and wont open it’s eyes. Nothing seems to be broken and my kitten only pulled a few feathers. I think the bird will be fine. It’s not really moving much, it’s sorta just sitting in a small open box with some wood shavings for my hamster and it’s out in the barn on a high wooden beam so there isn’t much chance of another animal harming it. It can fly away any time it wants but it’s just sitting there.

I need help identifying this little birdy. I spent the past hour looking up the species but i cant find much.. It’s small, but not tiny, but it can fit in the palm of my hand…, it’s a dark gray color, more like black if you look at it from far, it has black eyes and black feet. I live in Hemmingford, in Quebec, if that helps.. i think I’ve seen others like this before so i don’t believe it’s a rare bird or anything. it hasn’t made any sound so i don’t quite know about that. We have a bird feeder out side the house so im sure it’s there every single day. My mum said it wont eat anything even if i give it any seeds or even bread..?
Do any of you have any idea’s as to what type of bird it might be?
Also, if there is anything I can do for this bird. Im letting you know now, im only 15 so im not about to jump in my parent’s car and drive who knows how far to find a vet that treats birds.. (I live on a farm an hour away from even a mall… imagine that!!)
So any tips or suggestions are welcome and thanks for your help!!!!

(PS, if any of you have a site where i can learn more about this bird., i’d appreciate it!)

Take it out of its misery. It was probably sick in the first place. Did your cat catch during the day time? Take it out like old yeller. youve got it to do. youre in quebec? where is that? It’s probly a starling. Give it some grapefruit seed extract, purchased at healthfood store. 10-15 drops per gallon use as spray on infected area as well a drinking water. If he is lifeless, put a pot over him and bang it with a spoon to wake him up. It works
