House Wren Attacks Baby Bluebirds
June 6, 2010 Bird House Feeder
This house wren attacked bluebird nestlings by grabbing them and throwing out of the nestbox when the parents were away. Fortunately the people who owned the box saw it on their nestbox camera and saved the babies. Hummingbirds are fun, entertaining, full of energy and it’s easy to attract hummingbirds.

Great Video, but wayyyyyyyy too sad for me.
birds are far more cruel than we give them credit for.
wat happened to the last bird
plz live
Amazingly, all of the babies lived, thanks to their landlord! She was watching the video and went out and rescued them 2 nights in a row, and the parents protected them for the rest of the time.
watch my funny blackbird vidz they sprint so bad
I don’t have much respect for house wrens.
Birds are not cruel nor kind.. they are simply birds surviving. Consider where you place your bird houses, wrens like to be near tree lines and stuff bird houses near their own to remove competition. Consider placing your bluebird boxes well away from tree/forest lines, favoring a more open area, say along a fence line. Box placement can make a huge difference where survival is concerned. Glad they were rescued, but then the wren may return!
This is SO horrible to watch, those poor precious babies!

Anyway it’s good to watch this so that you can take the appropriate action if wrens are a threat in your area.
Wren guards are a great help as well as making sure the nest isn’t near bushes or shrubs.
Even still, wrens can still attack as we’ve seen here and it’s just so extremely horrible!
Thank God these precious babies made it!
What a great landlord keeping such a great eye out for it and saving them!
Thanks for sharing!
will they invade other bird house besides bule birds.?
ah,the hit tm left one as a warning, this is avian nature combat, that wren was part of the 1/6/5 special operations bn.they’re mission is to do long range recon (lrrp) and take out targets of oppurtunity in a a.o to sow fear and demoralize the op for before the main force elements arrive to seize and hold the target zone.taking out the indiginous population thereby gaining control of the local food supply network.
Yes they built their nest over a chickadee nest that already had eggs about to hatch in my front yard but I didn’t catch it in time and all the chickadees died. The house wren isn’t as big a threat as the house sparrow and european starling though. The carolina wren doesn’t have the same temperment or breeding habits as the house wren so if anyone does decide to take one out just make sure it’s not a carolina wren. The house wren will do this to titmice and nuthatch nests.
Wonderful video . House wren are amazing birds.
