Hummingbirds Feeding #2 in HD
June 24, 2010 Bird House Feeder
I recently purchased a new hummingbird feeder called a HummZinger made by Aspects and filmed this footage over the weekend of 7/25/09. I’m not sure which hummingbird feeder is better from the two that I have now but this new one you can see the hummingbirds better because you don’t have the bottle blocking your view. I also noticed that the female Ruby Throated Hummingbird likes to hover and feed and the male likes to sit on the perch to feed, watch them and see. I also started making my own nector to see if they like it better than the first batch I bought from the store that was red. I have read that the red dye may hurt the birds so I decided to make it myself now. Usually they come one at a time to feed but just today I saw two females feeding and another one flew by and chased one from the feeder. These little guys are a lot of fun to watch and they have led me to purchase Goldfinch and Oriole feeders as well. Watch for some videos of those in the future.

Hummingbirds are fun, entertaining, full of energy and it’s easy to attract hummingbirds.

What great footage! I see you figured it out!
Thanks! Humingbirds are amazing to watch.
Yeah thanks to CyberLink PowerDirector it made the whole process easier to edit/upload in HD..
Nice!
So beautiful. Of course you know how much I love to film and watch hummingbirds.
Great footage, what type of camera are you using? Is that in 24fps mode? looks slowed down a bit.
I have a Sony HDR-CX100 HandyCam and this is recorded at normal speed. I guess it does look like it is slowed a bit but I did nothing but transfer the video over to the pc and put a few clips together and upload it to You Tube.
Thanks for watching and commenting..
Beautiful. What are they feeding on or is it just water ?
They are feeding on sugar water. I make it using 1 cup sugar to four cups water. They love the stuff! Unfortunately the hummers have left for a warmer climate.. There here from Mid May to about Mid September and then migrate to Mexico.
Beautiful footage. I like your hummingbird feeder. I too have made my own necter, the stuff I buy “they say it is red, because of the B-vitamins. That they have not added any red dye. At least that is the case in this one particular brand I buy. I don’t know if it is true or not. Anyway love your HD videos, really nice to see everything so close up. I like the “musicbox” type music too.

@KymsPink59Cadi Thanks!
I love watching the Hummingbirds, they have to be my favorite bird. I started out buying nector but decided to make it myself since it was so easy to do. I’m still waiting to see my first Hummingbird this year. I have had the feeders out for a couple weeks now but none! I know they are around the area but just haven’t found my feeder yet.. Can’t wait to get more video of them this year. Thanks for stopping by and commenting
@KymsPink59Cadi Does the container have an ingredient list? B-vitamins would make a yellow color rather than a red color.
