I cut this piece of wood two times and its still to short ?

What am I doing wrong?! I’m trying to make a bird house.

      Are you using metric or English measurement units?
      Don’t feel confined to one or the other. If switching units will help make the wood the right size, then by all means.

      Don’t forget when cutting something that you have to take into account the width of the blade that you are cutting it with as well. If you are using a particularly thick saw blade, it may make a difference in your overall measurements.

      When you make your cut you should not CUT THE LINE. Cut the long side to make the length perfect.

      Keep cutting it until it gets longer. Each time you cut a little bit off a piece of wood it gets longer, so you are just not cutting off enough.
