Robin Nesting Shelf Robin Bird House

July 29, 2010 Bird House Feeder

An American Robin is beginning to build a nest on a Wild-Bird-Watching.com Nesting Shelf. This Nesting Shelf is designed to be used by Robins, Doves, Phoebes, and other birds that don’t use traditional bird houses. This particular nesting shelf had a split roof so it couldn’t be shipped. We decided to place it on the south side of the house since we didn’t have one on that side. Now 4-11-09 a new Robin nest is being built on the shelf. Hope we don’t scare her away as this is right by the back door. www.wild-bird-watching.com

Definitely a good video! I always see so many nonsense videos on you tube now. Most of them are pretty funny, but it’s nice to see these kinds of videos once in a while.

How high was your placement? Because this looks exactly like the back of my house it’s odd.

It’s about 9 feet off the ground facing south. It’s also as close to the soffit as I could get it.

This is a video from April 2009. I put it up and it was used about a week later

I had a robin build her nest under my deck which is only three feet off the ground. Lucky for her no cats came along and I am glad to report that all three chicks left the nest successfully.
