This video is of a 100000 (estimate) birds total, Purple Martin premigratory roost. Purple Martins gather in huge numbers late in the summer to prepare for their journey to South America for the winter. Purple Martins almost entirely depend on human supplied nest sites, which makes this even that much more interesting… these are birds that spent all summer in folks backyards raising young in man made bird houses or natural gourds in colonies.
