Hello, I am very interested in owning one pigeon that can come home. I live in a city that is very dense & populated, & space is small ,also I live on the 7th floor of a building.
I was thinking of owning a pigeon who`s home would be a wooden stand in my house. I was wondering if it is possible for the pigeon to fly through my window & balcony to stay. also I went to the pet shop today but I dont know what a homing pigeon looks like, & also besides that what type of birds can be tamed to come home.but the type of birds I did see looked like this .Link below~

What do most birds feed their young (seed or bugs)?

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 3 Comments

My daughter likes to watch birds and I want to build her a big birdhouse with multiple "apartments". I think it would be neat to put this "bird apartment building" up on a 10 or 15 foot pole that’s sunk in concrete so it wont sway in the wind. My next idea is to hang a squirrel-proof bird feeder under the birdhouse so the birds in there would have it made – there’s also a small creek about 50 feet away so they wouldn’t have to go far at all for a drink either. Here’s my question: do birds feed their young birdseed & whatnot or do they catch bugs & worms for the chicks? I know some birds are herbivores and some are carnivores… Will most of the birds who use this birdhouse use the feeder for their young or no? If there’s any bird experts reading this let me know what you think. Also, what would be the best time of the year to put this birdhouse up? March or April maybe? Thanx.

If left alone for the weekend, would it work?

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 4 Comments

Thought of building a bird house for feral pigeons… or at least some kind of shelter and see if a pair builds a nest on the balcony of the town house I live in.

There’s a few pigeons that live in my neighborhood and I have read about pigeons who have built nests on people’s balconies.

I plan on using a wooden crate used for shipping/holding wine as a ‘nest box’ for a pair of pigeons.

The crates are 100% and don’t have any opening on the sides.

They’re a good size and are a bit deep. I think they’d be big enough. The crate wil be left on the balcony of the townhouse I live in.

I also plan to do this in the spring and set out bird seed and water on the balcony. One thing though…

I’m going to LA in May for 3 days or more so the house will probably be empty. I thought about setting the crate, bird seed & water on the balcony before I leave…

think if the stuff is left alone for that amount of time, would a pair of pigeons come?

no jokes, please…

What cleaning product should be used to clean up bird droppings?

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 4 Comments

I have 25 finches in one large cage. I moved them recently to a different part of the house. And I noticed the wall that was behind the cage is now covered in bird droppings & stuck on seeds. What should I clean that with without thinning the paint behind it?
Thanks I will try the water soaked paper towel idea.
