Hooded Oriole

Hooded Oriole – He’s drinking the exact same sugar/water mix that the Hummingbirds drink, which is 1/2 cup white, granulated sugar in two cups of water. This cagey fella knows he’s beautiful, and bright, and a target for the sparrowhawks in the area. He’s as paranoid a bird as I’ve ever seen. It’s taken me 4 years to get this video, 4 years just for him to tolerate seeing me within 50 yards of him. There’s only two of them in the entire area that I’ve seen, him and his mate…I’ve never seen other adults, never seen any of their offspring, assuming they are hatching eggs every year. He may run them out of his territory as soon as they fledge. I do not know anything about their habits. I hope you enjoy seeing him as much as I do! He rivals my dozens of Hummingbirds in sheer beauty and wonder.

How to kill a rat outside?

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 3 Comments

I have a little problem, we have a bird feeder that’s really active but we’ve been seeing a rat that comes by at Night, we do not want rats around the house for many reasons. The problem is that we have no clue how to kill or get rid of it because we don’t want to injure or kill the other animals feeding in that area, such as the 2 chipmunks and all the birds and squirrels. Is there a safe way to get rid of this rat without hurting the other animals? Right now our only option is to shoot the rat with a pellet gun.

Psycho bird bangs window

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with No Comments

This bird started banging the window shortly after we moved into this house. The bird feeder was all ready there but it was empty. I filled it thinking the bird wanted food but the banging didn’t stop. This bird did this every day until we moved out of this house. We only lived there 2 months between the bird and the faulty wiring and lead pipes the house was unbearable.

Does anyone have some advice about my neighbor?

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 9 Comments

I have lived in my house for 14 years, all that time I have had a bird feeder in the yard. The problem is that every time I or my husband are in the yard the birds, squirrels and chipmunk get excited thinking we are going to put food in the feeder. This is making my neighbor crazy, now they shout at us about feeding the animals. We don’t, they have also threaten my husband with an alligator. The man said he’d let one loose in our yard. We live in the Northeast by the way. I’m sure they are just drunk, but what can I do? I’m not comfortable in the yard now.

Automatic Pet Feeder?

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 5 Comments

Looking for an automatic pet feeder that keeps the rest of the food secure. We have two dogs that live in the back yard (with a heated and air conditioned dog house). We used to be able to leave them plenty of food and it would last a few days. we both travel and have crazy schedules so we want to make sure that they have food when they want it. But, they are aparenty "sharing" their food with birds and squirrels.

What automatic pet food dispenser will only dispense a certain amount of food per day so that the other animals don’t eat a weeks worth of dog food the first day while the dogs are distracted.

The dogs don’t allow the other animals near the food when they are eating. But, the birds sneak in while they are sleeping in the yard or they team up and distract the dogs on the other side on the yard while the other birds steal their food.

a bird stuck in my house

i should hav also recorded how i set it free by climbing onto the rooftop and taking out one by one of those window slides. uughh…the agony…i suffered muscle strain the next day. At 1st i didn’t dared to go up the rooftop and was thinking of leaving the matter to my bro or my dad. but… the thought of the poor bird staying up there too long might have died out of hunger (im not sure how strong a bird can survive without food or water for one night and 3 days if i didn’t release it coz only another next 2 days only my bro and dad are free to do it) and it is causing the staircase so dusty and messy. so without much thought and couldn’t bare the messiness it is causing, i just went ahead and pick up a ladder and climbed to the rooftop. 1st try i climbed half way and then i went down. “scariieee~~!!” *went to the staircase and looked at the bird* “Gaaah…ok ok try again!” 2nd try not so scary anymore and reached to the top. took out one window slide, leaving a hole which is quite small but i was thinking it should be big enough for it to squeeze itself out…so went down the ladder and hope its clever enough to fly out frm there. after 3 hours the bird still sitting there.”looks like the hole is not big enough” as i thought to myself. so i went up again and about to take out the 2nd slot which much bad luck, the dark heavy rain clouds are coming.so i have to go down again and wait for the rain to stop. *cursing the rain for the wrong timing* =_=” well…its good thing
