Male Rufous Hummingbird in Nanaimo

This Rufous Hummingbird recently arrived in my little sanctuary, Although I did edit down the time a little, the entire raw footage clip was less than three minutes, as he shares the feeder with a young Anna. The male (brown body, ruby throat) is a lucky find for me as I rarely see them, let alone catch one on video.

Amazing Race Birthday Party?

Ok, I need helpppp! I am holding an amazing race birthday party in about a month and I need help figuring out what to do.
For invites, I am printing out a map of the world and writing the stuff on the back. For teams, I am choosing them randomly and we will wear our team color on our shirts. It will be co-ed and it will be about 14 people. For lunch or dinner (depending on when I hold it) I was thinking of doing a bunch of different things from countries around the world. I have a big property (an acre) so I though I can do it at my house. We have stone walls, bird feeders, and a big wood like place beside my house that we can use. I want it to be REALLY fun and hopefully it will be.

I want roadblocks and detours and I thought of a few. I also want to pretend to travel to different countries so that it isn’t boring.

My room is the top floor. When we go to france (first I think), a clue could be. Go to the highest point in the eiffel tower. Travel in a hot air balloon. I have a sort of ballon thing on my ceiling that is white and a lantern like object so I thought that that could be the place it goes. Also, I have a tree swing and playground thing in my backyard if that helps. Ooh we also have a zipline.

For the zipline, we will use it when we go to brazil and we will zipline through the rainforest and the clues will be taped high on the tree and you have to zipline down to get the clues.
When we go to china, we have stone walls on our property and there could be a correlation to the great wall of china. so pleassseeeeee help me!
I also have a trampoline if that helps?

Will feeding birds increase their local population?

I live out in the country for the most part. We have the perfect environment for birds. We have a woods behind out house, with a large back yard with a few trees there. Some birds even make nests under our deck.

Anyway, I love birds, even sparrows. So will putting up maybe three or four bird feeders around the property help increase their local population?
also, should I put different bird seed in each one to attract the most birds possible?

I have bird seed I bought from the dollar general, it’s just the basic seed with some sunflower seeds in it.

I am thinking about getting an exotic bird as a pet, and I need some advice.
I have been researching different species of birds and their needs for a few months now, and I’ve narrowed down my choices to a budgie, lovebird, quaker parrot, or african grey parrot.
I really want a bird that can is social, and that will enjoy lots of company. I would really appreciate it if my bird could talk (that would be a plus), and I would love to have a bird that is very loving.
Now for my problems. First of all, I have two cats, and I am terrified of what might happen to the bird. So far, neither of my cats have taken an interest in the birds that visit my bird feeders outside, but I’m worried that they would respond differently if there was one in the house. I have a snake, and they don’t torture it though.
Second, I’m afraid of my skill. I’m pretty determined when it comes to taking care of my pets, and I’m afraid that I’ll get in over my head with a bird. I’m worried that I’ll mess up with the bird. They can live for a really long time, and I’ll feel awful if the bird gets bored or starts to hurt itself.
My point is, I just want what’s best for the bird, and I would like to know what my options are and what you think I should do.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
I was also thinking of getting a goffin’s cockatoo.

many of you do not understand about the guy with the rifle out of his kitchen window that lives next to me my deck is real close to his window and house that he is shooting from all of my bird feeders are by my deck and he even has bird feeders i do not know what he is shooting at but it scares both of my dogs and all of my cats this guy has to be some nut job to do this out his window with all of our county houses so close like this i can see him doing it from my living room window shouldnt i tell the police are something what if hes a pscho. I pay alot of money to live where i live and not have some nut putting a gun out the window twenty feet from my deck and window and shooting the innosant animals that live around us birds squirrels chipmunks ect.

Why would there be 2 dead fish on my porch? Birds maybe?

We have an enclosed porch, no stairs. There were 2 small creek fish dead on my porch today. There is a birds nest on my porch as well and we have many birds around our home. Also the bird feeders went dry yesturday. I would like to think birds may have done this rather than neighbors. But wouldn’t you think that the birds would eat the fish? We live in a rural area with a creek about 500 feet away. Also we have many wild animals and my dogs have been smelling things around the house. Could a different wild animal have done this? Any ideas would be very helpful.

Don’t get me started on squirrels. They scare away the birds and take down our bird houses and bird feeders. They also dug up my Mom’s flowers!
