The American Goldfinch feeding at my seed ball that is filled with black oil sunflower seeds. The Bright colors and the song or these Wild Canaries Are Like no other bird that comes to my feeders they add color and music to the yard. They are probably one of the easiest bird to attract to the yard just make sure that you offer plenty of clean fresh seed and a water source and you will have no problem keeping them around.

Chickadee eggs haven't hatched, mom still sitting?

Posted by Filed Under Bird House Feeder with 1 Comment

Outside we have a little bird house (originally for decoration) but about a month ago a momma chickadee decided to build her nest in there. She’s very good about letting us peek in through the hole, never gets up and flies away (we don’t tamper with anything, just peek)

So once when she was out getting food we look inside and see 4 little eggs sitting there! This was about three weeks ago, and I read online that it takes about two weeks for the eggs to hatch. Momma’s still on the unhatched clutch. Will chickadees sit on a bad clutch or can the eggs hatch unusually late? Will she stop sitting on them after a certain amount of time?
