I live in San Diego. Under one of my eaves at my house there is a bird nest which I think is for a smaller bird like a Sparrow or something similar. It looks like some muddy compound that is tucked in to the corner. There is bird droppings on the floor and I can hear all the little chirping from inside the nest when I stand below.
I want to remove the nest but since It has been there since before I bought the house (10/09) I figure I can give them some more time to finish up this batch of babies and then I will take it out.
Does anyone have any idea what kind of bird makes this nest? If I hear the babies in there now chirping, how long do they typically stay in there before they are out on their own? Will the mother lay more eggs this year or will she let these guys go and then wait until next year for another batch (which means I can take it out as soon as she is done)?
In removing I figure I can scrape it off with a metal putty knife and then get the area wet with a hose a few times until it may be soft and then be able to scrub off the remainder so I am back to having my wood?
Ideas?

You are probably right about the kind of bird.
I am not a bird lover. I will remove the nest and I will prevent them from making another. I will however wait until they have left the nest, then take it down. I think I will get out my long extension ladder this weekend and look inside to see what we have… If they all fly out, then the nest goes as nothing is inside of it at that moment. I will NOT destroy the nest if there are eggs or babies in there that cannot fly. Beyond that, this is my house and they can go make a nest elsewhere.
Thanks

A wild bird flew into my house through my patio door…I have a few questions, if anybody knows how to answer.
1. How do you get the bird to go outside? It’s sitting in my room, and it won’t fly out.
2. How do you tame it? I’ve tried singing it lullabies, giving it bread (but it won’t eat it), and giving it a small branch…
3. Is it possible to identify the bird? It’s small and brown, has a long, thin, pointed beak.
4. Why does it sometimes open its mouth wide and keep it open that way for a few seconds?
1. I’ll try that.
2. It’s more calm than it was when it first flew in!
3. Yeah, I’m just wondering if I can determine the species of the bird…
4. It’s making no noises, just opening it. Maybe it’s making sounds humans can’t hear.
Thank you, Alison! That helps a lot. I’ll try my best to get the bird out as soon as possible!

When I was 13, I found a baby dove being attacked by its mother, so I rescued it. It became strong and began to learn to fly. I named her Iggy, and she still lives in a tree next to my house. The tree is really big, and it hangs over our neighbor’s driveway. Iggy poops on their cars …(Lol i dont like them so it is a lol) My neighbor is saying he will kill her, and she has a nest of chicks right now. If he kills her, her chicks will die. He said he was going to shoot her, but recently i saw a bird feeder hung on Iggy’s tree. It was full or red liquid. Is it poison? I have told my neighbor that she was my bird, but he said "Then make it stop crapping on my car or i will knock that thing down to hello"
Also, before anyone accuses me of letting her out, she was born outside and she is a wild animal but its funny because when i walk outside she flys down and lands on my head.

My Blue Front Amazon Parrot has just recently decided that she is not allowing my husband to come near me. She literally will fly at him with the full intent of attacking him to keep him away. This started with my husband showing me affection…now it is any time he gets up and walks by her. What can I do to reverse this????.
I am obviously the person in the house she bonds with. She is in full flight. She flys and lands on my shoulder when she is ready for a head scratching and FOOD!!!! We have had her for 4 years and this is just now becoming an issue in the last week. My Bird, in the last 2 weeks has really started to trust me, allowing me to scratch her head and pick her up, and started flying directly to my shoulder in the last month…this has been a long time coming…its finally here and now Im hoping to get her back on point so she can stay out with the family….she came from a background which obviously made her have some trust issues.
Could I have my husband begin to be the one to offer her food? need ideas….

Hello, was just wondering if someone had any ideas what this odd dream was about
I looked up what some of the vivid symbols meant, but I can’t seem to make sense of it. So maybe it’s just an odd dream that doesn’t really mean anything ^^;; but anyway here goes
When I was little I lived on a dairy, and in my dream I moved back to that house. My family and friends and I were moving all our stuff back into the house. The people that lived in it before we moved back in had knocked down a wall (making one less bedroom) and raised the ceiling considerably.
Since the ceiling had been raised there were a whole bunch of beams and rafters and stuff. I own a cockatiel in real life, so when I saw all that I thought my bird would have a lot of fun flying around it. I brought my bird inside but noticed that there was another bird sitting up high. It was a parrot of some kind.
I introduced the two birds and they were fine, so I let my cockatiel go fly around and continued moving things into the house. A while later my bird flew back to me and landed on my hand, but one leg was bloody and looked like its toes were chewed off. I knew the other bird hadn’t done it, so I thought maybe it’s toes had gotten caught somewhere.
I told the people helping me move that I had to take my bird to the vet immediately, and that I’d be back. Some person, I don’t remember who they were/what they looked like, said that they could fix the bird’s toes. They took the bird and changed its messed up leg with a wire leg.
The wire leg was longer than the remaining real leg, so they replaced that leg with a wooden peg-leg type thing. That caused some problem or another with the birds balance, so its wings had to be replaced, and before I knew it the entire bird was just a mash of objects, it wasn’t even a bird anymore.
The birds head got replaced by a big lump of white clay that was pressed down into a circle and had a face drawn on it. It couldn’t fly anymore, so I just carried it with me wherever I went after that.
One of the stranger dreams I’ve ever had XD
