A tufted titmouse is building a nest in a bluebird box which I refurbished last week. His nest is composed of a pinestraw base, then grass, moss and lichen. Today I installed a copper entrance-guard to keep the predator squirrels from enlarging the entrance hole. The bird does not know what to think of it, he investigates it by tapping on it. I secrued the bird house to the fence using plastic cable ties. It’s Easter Sunday, 2009.

Watch the parent “house wrens” bring food from nature to their little ones within a gourd birdhouse upon the porch. The birds have worms and spiders in their bills as they come in to feed their young. Hear the sounds of the young calling for their food and the chirps of their parents alerting that they are on their way. This is birdwatching at its simplest. 2 min.
