I never thought that I would ever see a woodpecker come to my bird feeder .I have seen them in the neighborhood before but was shocked to see him land and feed from the feeder. He or she has been back a couple of times since this video but is very skittish,as soon as he sees any movement in the house or hears a noise inside he takes off.We also have Cardinals,Titmice,Sparrows,Nuthatches,Chickadees,Pine Warblers and Gold Finches as regular guests. Not to mention A couple of Hummingbirds that like to spy on me through the window .

Hello I need your help.
I researched EVERYWHERE and couldn’t find an answer that actually helped.
Most people said "the eggs will die, just don’t bother" "it’s illegal to own wild birds." "you can’t hatch them and make them live" "they’re probably dead" and so on.
THESE ARE NOT HELPFUL ANSWERS and is just getting me to tears.
Ok, so the story is, my friend found a nest of 4 house finch eggs on her front door steps.
They waited for half an hour for the mom bird to come because after 30 minutes and the mom isn’t there, the mom had abandoned them so the birds can’t survive for being cold for 30 minutes. So they took the eggs in, put it under a heat lamp up to 100 degrees and are wondering what to do next.
How do you hatch house finch eggs and once you hatch them, what do you feed them and stuff?
Most people tell us to give up since it’s part of nature but it is NOT FAIR.
Please, if they are going to die, we want to try to save them and release them in to the wild when they are better. It’s just cruel to leave them back outside where they can be eaten, stepped on, and smashed by human feet. So please help comment, thank you!

I have never seen a wood pecker near my house before not even at my old house.
i have seen a road runner but that was it along with the other wild birds.Christmas morning there was the blue headed woodpecker on the tree in the backyard. It didn’t stay long but it did peck the tree. Another wild bird I saw where I live was this bird with yellow wings and red along side it. i think the bird had a brown head. I tried lookig it up but never found it.

Is it illegal to catch wild birds like pigeons or house sparrows? I’ve always wondered whether it was. Maybe there is legal way and a non-legal way of doing it? Also, do other birds have other limitations? Obviously endangered ones like a bald eagle but what about feral birds?
What’s the difference between an English and a House Sparrow? They look quite similar.

There is a nest in front of my house, with five blue jay fledglings in it; the nest is too small and one keeps falling out/getting pushed out. I have hand-fed wild birds before, but eventually took them to a rescue. What temperature do the fledglings generally need?

Hi, I’m a stay at home mother and also care for orphaned and injured wildlife for the State here at my house. I’m a huge animal lover and make homemade suet for wild birds. I was thinking of making enough suet, and selling it in my town. I notice how fast the suet flies off the shelves at walmart and other places.
I add all sort of ingredients to mine. Peanut butter, fresh fruit, sweetened cereal, oats, seed, graham crackers and other treats. Birds can’t resist it! How much should I attempt to sell my homemade suet? I would make enough to fill the feeder. Thanks!
I’ve already talked with the USDA and my county officials. I wont need any inspections. Thanks.
Hi, I understand your concern about the cereal. I only use cheerios (honey nut) or the plain. I do respect wildlife and that’s why I work with them. I never use cereal that’s high in sugar. Like most kid brands. The use of cherrios isn’t life threating, nor dangerous. Thanks for your answer and god bless.
Mayan-Thanks for your input. I was thinking of only selling my cakes at the local Flea-markets or maybe when we have Boom Town Days. I’m def. not thinkinging of going into an actual business. I want this to be a fun easy way of making extra money. Thanks again for your answer!
