The Impatient Oriole

April 30, 2010 Bird House Feeder

Orioles and Hummingbirds share the same feeders. Here a female Oriole sings and taps on the window as she waits rather impatiently for her dinner. Somehow the birds have made the connection between the empty feeder and the supply of food being inside the cottage. Oh I know the squirrel will do just about anything to get at the feeders….we put baby oil on the shepherds hook kind and it also stops the ants from climbing up as well.
Thanks and glad you liked the Beatles site as well! :-)
    Hugs

Me too, that is how I got the church window because someone said “wish I had a camera”
taadaa guess who had a camera. Then posting it on YT was the only way I could send it to the person who was actually interested in the window.

What a great looking bird! I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Oriole here in NC. I know for certain I’ve never seen anything other than a hummingbird eating out of my hummingbird feeder.

    That was wonderful, Nancy!

Well, that’s the thing. I didn’t remember giving any bread out at that time in my life. I was working three jobs raising three kids, alone, so I don’t even remember if I was thinking about the little birds of the world back then. I just thought it was strange that he kept pecking at my window. He did this for about a week, everyday, and no, he wasn’t a wood pecker. Hummingbirds are my fave too.

Orioles love the sweet nectar and share the Hummingbird feeder all the time. Still, the Hummingbird has to be my favorite! :-)
    Thanks and hugs.
