Demetri Martin has a joke in his "sames and opposites" bit that goes, "A bird house is not the same as a bird home. One is much more comfortable for birds." I always thought that "bird home" was another word for "bird house." What is the difference between them?

Hummingbirds are fun, entertaining, full of energy and it’s easy to attract hummingbirds.

When a bird goes into a box it’s a bird house.
But after she’s raised her little brood, from sitting on her soft eggs for weeks, keeping them warm; to feeding those screaming little ones when they demand worms every hour; to dealing with rambunctious teens who just want to hang out on the perch or fly off until all hours of the night; to that sad lonely day when her chicks have fledged and wandered off, to meet their mates and make families of their own – those memories are what make a bird house a bird home.
Seriously, it’s just a joke.
a bird house is a place to rest your talons, a home is a place that you go every day and raise your fledglings and have thanksgiving day worms.
Depends on how much rent they pay.
Semantics…
Same thing…
a bird house is man-made.
*these are usually made of wood and are attached to a long stick
birds themselves make their homes.
*usually birds use small twigs and sticks
A bird’s home can either be a bird’s nest made by the bird, or an architectural masterpiece as in a Dove Cote made by man.Equally it can be the bird’s habitat as in it’s home, or it can be an Aviary, again created by man.
a bird house is a man made place for birds to feed and land a bird home is a man made house for a bird to create a nest in with usually a small hole for entry and exit of a small room
A bird house is usually man made and a bird home is something natural like a nest.
a bird house is only a place where birds lived but a bird home is it’s family
I agree with others about when a bird enters a box, it’s a bird house. but it ain’t a home until the blinds are up, pictures are hung, and color coordinated furniture is put into place.
